Description

The Accounting Manager will work across Nuru International’s global team to carry out and enhance the operational and financial systems, processes, and policies throughout the organization. This role manages the accounting function of our US-based NGO as well as providing capacity development and support for our country projects in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Nigeria. Nuru is looking for a talented individual with excellent organizational and problem solving skills, demonstrated understanding of the non-profit sector, passion for our mission, and the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • High energy and passion for Nuru International’s mission.
  • Eagerness to travel to Africa.
  • At least 3-5 years of finance and analysis experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience in a nonprofit or audit firm preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of nonprofit accounting, finance, and grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporate and foundation grants. USAID grant experience a plus.
  • Solid experience coordinating audit activities and executing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, and Salesforce highly desirable.
  • Excellent Excel skills.
  • Personal qualities of integrity and credibility.
  • A proactive, hands-on thinker.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic, remote environment.
  • Committed to meeting deadlines, creating and improving processes, and excellent organizational/prioritization skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
  • Masters and/or CPA highly preferred.
