VP/ MD - Deputy Controller

You will have exposure to Capital Markets, SEC Reporting, Loan Accounting, Close/Consolidations, Policy/Technical Accounting, SOX and other key functions. We have a casual, collaborative and flexible work environment with many opportunities for growth and development.

OneMain is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill a VP/MD Deputy Controller Role leading our Close and Reporting process. This position will be structured around the Accounting Close, Financial Reporting and Technical Research relating to SEC filings and corporate accounting opinions/briefs affecting company wide decisions. This Role will work closely with senior leadership, FP&A, Investor Relations, Treasury and Capital Markets working through business initiatives and structured transactions.

We are looking for a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills as this role will lead a team of 30+ team members. We are looking for someone who can inspire a vision, empower the team and challenge the process. This role will also work closely with external auditors, managing the audit process, thus an understanding of audit process and methodology is a plus. This role will report to the Senior Vice President, Principal Accounting Officer, Corporate Controller.

Successful candidates will be able to execute the following duties:

  • Lead a team, driving ownership and accountability, discipline in the accounting close and reporting process
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the department and the broader organization
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior management
  • Ability to find and develop talent within your organization
  • Transaction analysis including strategic accounting for securitizations, acquisitions, and business combinations, and working closely with Technical accounting and SEC reporting colleagues and financial leaders
  • Interact and coordinate with external auditors to address technical issues
  • Develop, challenge, and implement new corporate accounting policies/procedures in collaboration with the Vice President, Director of Accounting Policy
  • Generation of ad hoc reports and decision briefs based upon technical accounting issues translatable to a broad audience Identify opportunities to drive efficiencies and reduce risk in the process
  • Produce, edit, and revise SEC reports
  • Experience generating reports utilizing technical research and writing skills will be crucial to the success of any individual in this position

Requirements

  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting MBA or Master’s Degree in Accounting.
  • A plus 8 years of progressive experience in an accounting/accounting policy/or financial policy department with SEC reporting functions preferred
  • Experience leading a team of 30+ preferred
  • Public Accounting experience with a national or large regional firm
  • Exceptional technical research and writing skills
  • Exceptional communications skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to think, and work, independently resolving challenging issues
  • Consumer Lending and Finance experience desired
  • Travel up to 20%
