Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting North America is looking for a Director of Corporate Development to join our Strategy/M&A team from a remote location, accessible to travel. Ideal cities include: New York, Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago.

The Director, Corporate Development is accountable for activity relating to acquisitions, divestitures, and major partnerships across Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting Division ("TAA") globally. The role reporting to the TAA Vice President, Strategy & Corporate Development.

Leveraging knowledge of TAA's strategic priorities across each business unit, this individual will synthesize and make corresponding recommendations that directly impact near and long-term strategic objectives. Importantly, he/she will lead cross-business unit thought leadership and execution on inorganic expansion to complement our product offerings and lead activities to explore adjacent market opportunities.


Essential duties and responsibilities:

  1. Lead marketplace assessments, including identifying growth opportunities, diagnosing customer needs and behaviors, understanding competitive dynamics, market sizing, and identifying potential market entry strategies.
  2. Develop market segmentation analysis including customer needs, threats, trends, opportunities, etc.
  3. Work closely with TAA business to maintain TAA competitor and M&A target profiles.
  4. Support the ongoing development of the M&A pipeline, and continuously work with teams to actively manage the pipeline.
  5. Scan business environment from a “hunter” perspective for potential acquisitions which align to strategic growth goals; Present market scan of potential acquisition opportunities, including how respective opportunities would accelerate TAA objectives.
  6. Manage M&A opportunities through the initial stages to ensure targets meet our strategic goals as established by each TAA business unit.
  7. Analyze potential mergers, acquisitions and divestitures for multiple business units, and make recommendations as to their impact on TAA's strategic goals.
  8. Develop processes to identify and evaluate companies to support the development of business cases.
  9. Write formal proposals in collaboration with TAA business unit leaders to present acquisitions and divestitures to senior executives.
  10. Lead cross-functional and/or organizational projects as needed by utilizing a rigorous project management discipline.
  11. Serve as an informal mentor for TAA business unit team members to foster deal capabilities.


Bachelor's degree in Management, Accounting or Finance or related field; Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credentials are preferred.


  1. A minimum of 5+ years of management consulting experience
  2. Preferred: experience working in a role that is highly focused on supporting mergers and acquisitions
  3. Preferred: Experience in the enterprise software, service related, or transaction software industry

Travel requirements:

20-30% both domestic and international, with focus on North America, and international expansion opportunity.

Other duties:

Performs other duties as assigned by Vice President, Corporate Development. During peak periods, this position will require long hours and work on weekends.
