Located in Augusta, Georgia, Augusta University (AU), part of the University System of Georgia, is a public research university and medical center dedicated to training the next generation of innovators, leaders and health care providers.
AU is seeking an Executive Vice President for Finance/Chief Business Officer (CBO) to serve as chief strategist and accomplished healthcare financial executive who can work effectively in a highly matrixed and relationship-driven culture.
The Executive Vice President for Finance/CBO must be a strategically-minded visionary leader who knows how to effectively drive change in a complex and dispersed but system-oriented environment. The new leader must embody the AU organizational mission and must lead through respect, humility and intellectual curiosity. Reporting to the President, Augusta University & CEO, AU Health System, the Executive Vice President for Finance/CBO is a member of the executive leadership team, with responsibility for all financial and control activities for the entirety of the AU organization, including oversight of a 1.6 billion dollar budget. The Executive Vice President for Finance/CBO will provide strategic and operational leadership over the organization’s financial management, including planning, administering, monitoring and controlling the overall financial plans, policies and programs. The new leader, in partnership with the President and CEO, will establish strategic financial goals and policies for the system. The Executive VP for Finance/CBO will also provide leadership and oversight for the Public Safety functions (including critical events and emergency preparedness) of the campus.
While the university and the health system each have separate financial leaders, each has direct reporting responsibility to the Executive Vice President for Finance/CBO. It is expected that the new executive will capitalize on the strong foundation currently in place ultimately delivering efficiencies, and very importantly, driving sound fiscal results and innovative funding of the future agenda for success. Additional information about the position can be found at www.wittkieffer.com.
This is an exciting time to join AU as it continues its journey towards transformation, growth and excellence as an integrated academic health center and consolidated comprehensive research university, only one of four such public entities in Georgia. The organization already enjoys an excellent reputation nationally among academic health systems.
However, with the integration of the university and health system, the consolidation between the two legacy universities, Georgia Health Sciences University (formerly known as the Medical College of Georgia) and Augusta State University, and the addition of new leadership to a renowned team of passionate healthcare professionals and outstanding faculty, this is the perfect opportunity for the right finance executive to help lead the organization to even greater heights. The university is fully committed to ethnic, gender and cultural diversity and believes in access to a quality affordable education for all qualified learners.
