Global Controller Client JLG Industries JLG Industries is a subsidiary of Oshkosh Corporation a NYSE $8B heavy equipment manufacturer. JLG is the world’s leading designer, manufacturer, and marketer of access equipment. Reporting relationships:

The Global Controller will report directly to the Segment CFO for JLG. They will supervise a total staff at HQ of 30 professionals through 4 direct reports and will in directly oversee the activities of Regional Controllers in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. Education The Global Controller should possess a B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance. An MBA and or CPA certification would be preferred.

Responsibilities:

The Global Controller will be directly responsible for leading JLG’s accounting organization whose responsibilities include financial accounting, consolidations, internal controls, statutory reporting & compliance, and business decision support.

More specifically the Global Controller will:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of JLG’s current financial processes and reporting formats in order to understand current operations and make recommendations to improve financial processes and tools and drive consistency in accounting and financial reporting processes globally.
  • Lead continuous improvements efforts with in the accounting department, with the objective of establishing ”world-class” capabilities, processes and people.
  • Serve as the financial accounting expert with in the JLG organization, researching and making appropriate recommendations relative to various technical accounting questions or treatments.
  • Develops strong lines of communication across JLG globally to facilitate the accurate and timely transfer and dissemination of financial information.
  • Hire and develop assigned financial staff to maximize productivity/efficiency, insure clarity in accountabilities and expectations among personnel, and cultivate leadership potential.
  • Work with the broader Oshkosh financial organization to insure adequate inter company communication and support.
  • Insure that JLG’s financial processes and controls are consistently applied across JLG’s global financial organization.
  • Serve as a key member of JLG’s financial management team and provide strategic financial counsel and support to the Vice President of Finance.
  • Insure the timely preparation, integrity and accuracy of JLG’s annual, quarterly, and monthly reporting packages.
  • Serve as a change agent, proactively identifying and implementing opportunities for key process efficiencies to improve and streamline financial operations.
  • Develop a strong knowledge of Oshkosh & JLG’s financial systems infrastructure and capabilities to maximize the use and effectiveness of automated financial systems. Assist with the planned upgrade of JLG’s financial systems, and
  • Lead and/or prepare any other special projects and analyses required by senior management. 

Compensation:

A competitive base salary will be awarded to the successful candidate. In addition, the individual will participate in the company’s annual management incentive program and will be participate in the company’s LTI program. Comprehensive relocation assistance will be awarded to the successful candidate in accordance with the company’s policies.

Location:

The position will be based out of company’s Hagerstown, Maryland headquarters and will involve up to 25% international travel. 

Requirements


The Global Controller should possess:
  • A minimum of 15 years broad based financial experience ideally including both significant experience working in public accounting and financial leadership role(s) in a complex global manufacturing company.
  • A strong track record of career progression and advancement.
  • Excellent technical accounting knowledge.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with US GAAP, Statutory Reporting, and IFRS preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and managing corporate internal controls.
  • Management and leadership skills evidencing the ability to effectively motivate, train and mentor subordinates.
  • Excellent experience and capability with the utilization of automated financial systems, specific experience implementing financial systems would be a plus.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, evidencing the ability to work effectively not only with direct supervisors and subordinates, but with regard to interfacing with and influencing professionals in a global and culturally complex matrix organization with whom one often does not have a direct reporting relationship.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit, evidencing a bias towards action with the courage to challenge the status quo.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, indicative of an ability to think and act on both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Strong organizational and project management systems including a superior attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and a hands-on orientation evidencing the ability to work in a cooperative and team oriented culture which will require the individual to work effectively as a manager/ supervisor, member of multiple project teams, and as an high level individual contributor, and
