The Technical Accounting Advisor will be responsible for providing technical accounting expertise and support to the Company, including establishing and maintaining accounting policies, researching and providing accounting guidance for complex or unusual business transactions, and leading the implementation of new accounting standards. Salary and level will be commensurate with experience.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitor and research new accounting guidance that potentially impacts the Company and lead the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, including ASC 842 Leases
  • Perform research on the proper U.S. GAAP accounting treatment for significant or non-routine transactions and events and document conclusions in technical accounting memos
  • Communicate with external auditors to ensure their agreement with management’s accounting conclusions and disclosures
  • Maintain the Company’s accounting policies and establish new policies as needed
  • Communicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to the management team, accounting, and external auditor
  • Review and interpret contracts to determine proper revenue recognition accounting treatment
  • Provide guidance on the accounting treatment for acquisitions (including the assessment of asset vs. business combination), non-monetary exchanges, and divestitures
  • Review and research financial reporting matters related to SEC reporting
  • Assist with the preparation of certain disclosures in the Company's external financial reports (i.e., 10-Ks and 10-Qs) and review of these reports to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements
  • Maintain SOX controls
  • Participate in special projects, as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Public accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting
  • Excellent technical research and communications skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
