The Manager of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting is a critical role in the corporate controller & accounting group, as well as the worldwide finance team. This role provides an exceptional opportunity for an individual with technical accounting skills to broaden their operational finance skills & experience, both in this role, and future roles at Activision Blizzard. Overall, the responsibility of this role is to ensure that we have complied with all accounting requirements under US GAAP, including the adoption and application of new accounting standards and establishment of accounting policies to support our emerging business models, and perform accurate reporting of our business results in our SEC filings. The individual will work closely with other accounting and business groups to address any accounting and finance related issues/developments and has close interaction with the Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer (CAO).

Specific requirements:

  • Perform technical research and consult with management to ensure proper accounting treatment for all transactions, including unusual and non-recurring transactions, in accordance with US GAAP and SEC guidance, and the implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
  • Consider implications of new accounting pronouncements on our current policy and standards.
  • Communicate the impacts from any change in accounting requirements, and provide necessary training.
  • Work closely with other functional accounting groups to address day-to-day business activities and associated accounting implications, and participate in ad hoc projects requiring specialized accounting and analysis.
  • Lead & prepare quarterly SEC filings and any other filing requirements.
  • Analyze quarterly business results and liaison with business units to draft MD&A in quarterly SEC filings and internal communications, as well as provide support to our investor relations group for quarterly earnings releases and ad hoc external reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with treasury and legal departments to prepare quarterly debt compliance analysis and present to various stakeholders, including the Company’s CFO.
  • Lead the Company’s goodwill and intangible assets impairment analysis and its evaluation of reporting units/business segments, and present results to the Company’s CAO.
  • Establish, develop and maintain the Company’s Accounting Policy; Manage quarterly subsidiary and BU financial reporting package and disclosure reporting process.
  • Collaborate with the Company’s external auditors on technical accounting topics, new accounting pronouncements, and its applications; and Manage and develop SEC team.


Player Profile

  • The ability to research, understand and apply accounting literature is a must requirement for this role. 5+ years of experience with one of the Big 4 firms and/or commercial experience at the Manager level, with heavy SEC reporting exposure, and strong track record of technical accounting & research experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA is required. Strong US GAAP accounting and SEC reporting skills are required, with experience in the following areas being beneficial: Stock-Based Compensation (related to the tax and valuation aspects etc.); Earnings Per Share calculations; Accounting for debt and other financial instruments, including derivatives; Segment, goodwill, & intangibles accounting; and Experience in preparation and review of cash flow statements.
