Job summary:

The Senior Market Intelligence Analyst will be primarily responsible for informing strategic decision-making by analyzing market data, generating insights into competitors and clients (current and potential) and compiling findings into compelling trend and scenario analysis, specifically within the Private Equity industry. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with legal practice groups and business support departments (Business Development, Practice Development, Client Development, Finance, Strategy, Knowledge Management, CI Research, Library, Business Operations) to gather and analyze financial, statistical and qualitative data into ‘stories’ which solve business challenges & grow the firm.

This new role provides an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to support firm leadership including the Chair, Managing Partner, Policy Committee, COO, SLT and other leaders by facilitating day-to-day activities and longer-term projects. The position calls for strong project management and organizational skills and a high degree of discretion and judgment. This role will support firm leadership in strategic and operational initiatives, internal and external client service, presentations and daily communication.

Essential functions:

  • Analyze client, market, competitor and internal data from disparate sources to identify trends and relationships that shape opportunities for the firm
  • Synthesize findings into “a story”; concise and compelling presentations for senior leadership which convey a point of view
  • Support the firm’s business and client development activities by performing industry forecasting, competitive landscape analysis and competitive benchmarking
  • Strengthen Ropes & Gray’s global market intelligence to support and refine growth strategies.This includes, but is not limited to, the identification and use of key quantitative and qualitative market data and modeling to scan for areas of opportunity/vulnerability
  • Communicate with stakeholders to understand and execute against strategic objectives.Collaborate with internal intelligence teams to ensure broad collaboration and prevent ‘wheel re-creation’ and overlap of efforts

Essential capabilities, education, experience and skills required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree a plus
  • 3+ years of consulting experience including having worked in or for the private equity industry
  • Strong data analysis skills combined with the ability to quickly identify the ‘so what’; ability to pull analysis into a story to affect / change behavior
  • Deep experience across the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
