The Drone Racing League (DRL) is the premier, global drone-racing league, and producer of world-class drone sports content. At once a tech, media, events, and sports company, DRL blends a diverse array of disciplines and industries. 

The Staff Accountant is a newly created position which will report directly to the Controller. You will play an important role in establishing the internal finance/accounting department within DRL as we look towards record growth in 2019. You will be responsible for a variety of general accounting functions, starting with accounts payable and accounts receivable and extending to month close and ad hoc projects. This will be a dynamic role which has the potential to substantially grow with you in the coming years. 

Here are some specifics on exactly what your days might look like: 

  • Prepare, issue and follow up on outstanding client invoices.
  • Process company expense reports.
  • Prepare, enter, and maintain support for journal entries.
  • Assist with accounts payable processing.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts each month.
  • Maintain accrued and deferred revenue, prepaid expenses, property and depreciation schedules.
  • Assist in the monthly close and consolidation of financial statements.
  • Review and analyze General Ledger and make necessary corrections.
  • Assist with financial analysis, budget tracking and executive team reporting as assigned.
  • Prepare various tax reports.
  • Assist creating internal controls and processes.
  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure all their accounting and finance needs are met.
  • Create ad hoc reports.
  • Other accounting and various tasks as experience, desire and need dictate.


  • BS or BA Accounting/Finance (CPA a plus but not required).
  • Minimum 2+ years of related experience (Big 4 a plus).
  • Strong attention to detail– must be driven and have a desire to research and resolve variances.
  • Excellent written, organization, time management and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and respond accordingly.
  • High level of energy and commitment - must display a positive, confident assertive personality and be able to work on projects until completion.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Strong skills in Excel required.
  • Be a self-starter, have a sense of urgency and be a dedicated team player.
