The position is part of the MSI Global Tax Team supporting global tax accounting and financial statement reporting for a $7B multinational with operations in over 65 countries. The US tax team is located in downtown Chicago, IL with regional tax members in Asia, and Europe. The Tax Accounting Manager manages the Company's Non-US income tax compliance and tax accounting processes in order to ensure the timely completion of all related tax filings and the tax accounting in the annual and quarterly financial statements. The Tax Accounting Manager also assists senior management with the identification and implementation of domestic and international tax planning strategies in order to minimize the Company's overall effective tax rate and cash taxes.

  • Prepares and/or reviews Non-US entities’ tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Prepares and/or reviews Non-US entities’ return to provision adjustments.
  • Manages the Non-US entities’ tax compliance process with the external global service provider and the local finance teams to ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns in all Non-US jurisdictions.
  • Assists the Senior Manager of Tax Accounting and the Director of Tax Accounting with the income tax related footnote disclosures required under ASC 740.
  • Assists the Senior Manager of Tax Accounting and the Director of Tax Accounting with the quarterly and annual compliance and financial statement disclosures related to Accounting for Uncertain Tax Positions under ASC 740.
  • Supports worldwide tax forecasting, accounting & reporting.
  • Assists Non-US entities with tax issues that may arise and assists management on special projects, which may include tax planning, restructuring, audit support, and mergers & acquisition support.
  • Assist in the tax provision and compliance of US entities, as needed.
  • Assists with the maintenance of tax compliance and provision software.
  • Reviews/reconciles tax-sensitive general ledger accounts, as needed.
  • Acts as a resource and provide ASC 740 training for colleagues


Minimum Education & Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of ASC 740.
  • Strong knowledge of financial and accounting principles and theory.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience; ability to recognize, analyze and solve complex problems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong organization and process improvement skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle pressures and demands of deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
