We are pleased to announce the appointment of John Kunasek as Vice Chair of Market Development, effective January 1, 2019.
A message from KPMG US Chairman and CEO Lynne Doughtie and Deputy Chairman and COO P. Scott Ozanus
We are pleased to announce the appointment of John Kunasek as Vice Chair of Market Development, effective January 1, 2019. He succeeds Rob Arning, who has served in that role for the past 10 years and who will assume a newly created position to drive our Account Executive client care efforts, in particular to strengthen our leadership connectivity with Audit clients. In addition, we are pleased to announce that with John’s elevation to vice chair, Jim Negus will succeed him as National Managing Partner of Market Development.
Going forward, a vibrant Market Development organization will be more critical than ever to achieving our growth ambition. Market Development must focus on significant areas, including strengthening our lead partner capabilities, accelerating the deployment of our Advisory and Tax solutions, and leveraging the role of the Office Managing Partners and industry leaders in creating greater market demand. John and Jim will continue to evolve the Market Development organization to further enable us to deliver on future market opportunities and drive greater growth.
John is well-positioned to lead Market Development, having served as National Managing Partner of Market Development and the leader of our national industry programs since 2015. In that role, John has been instrumental in focusing our industry efforts and driving tighter coordination and collaboration across our industries and functional business groups to enhance our go-to-market strategies. In the past, he also served as National Sector Leader for the Energy and Natural Resources practice, as well as Head of Power and Utilities for the Americas, where he was responsible for driving cross-functional quality growth. He has more than 30 years of industry experience in both Audit and Advisory services, including strategy, business process improvement, implementation of energy trading controls and infrastructure improvements, finance transformation initiatives, M&A, and risk and business advisory initiatives. In addition, he has served some of our most important energy sector accounts.
Jim will succeed John in the role of National Managing Partner of Market Development. Jim most recently led KPMG’s U.S. Banking and Finance Advisory practice, helping to secure and expand KPMG’s footprint in the sector, and he is a member of KPMG’s Global and U.S. financial services steering committees. Jim has held multiple roles over his 22-year career at KPMG, and has a track record of business development and broad exposure to U.S. and global Advisory initiatives. He has served as the Los Angeles Advisory Office Leader, led the U.S. Market Risk practice, U.S. Capital Management teams, Pacific Southwest Advisory practices, and early in his career the U.S. Energy Trading and Risk Management practice. Jim’s areas of focus include capital, bank risk and regulatory reporting, and innovative technologies. He currently serves many of our largest banks and serves as lead partner on a key account.
Rob will assume a new role leading the Account Executive efforts for our most significant public company Audit clients. During this important time for our firm, Rob will work closely with those partners who serve as Account Executives to further enhance touch points at our audit clients. Having served as an Account Executive at several key accounts during his 30+ year career with the firm, Rob is the ideal person to lead this important area going forward. He will also continue his oversight of the Board Leadership Center, and continue to serve as the Chairman of the KPMG Foundation and lead our Citizenship efforts, as well as our Alumni and Retired Partner programs.
Our special thanks to Rob for his tremendous leadership in building our Market Development program. We are proud of the strong foundation that Rob and his team have built over the past 10 years and are confident that it will be further strengthened to capitalize on emerging market opportunities under John and Jim’s leadership. Please join us in congratulating Rob, John and Jim in their new roles.
